Day 9
After breakfast it was a 12 minute drive to Mauston WI. We wanted to check out the pickleball courts.
We found Lions Park on the south side of town. The courts were in really good shape and not busy at all.

It was time for our late morning coffee so we chose Beyond The Daily Grind Cafe thinking it was a coffee shop. It was actually more like the name, a bakery and small restaurant. We shared a tasty bagel breakfast sandwich and the coffee was good.

It was such nice day, we thought we’d take advantage and do some kayaking. We headed south from Mauston about 20 miles to Lake Redstone.
Lake Redstone is a 600 acre lake near La Valle WI. A lot of the shore line was cliffs with beautiful rock formations.

We’ve seen boat ramps with tracks before. But this choice of ‘transport’ was a rather elegant solution. Most of the house sitting on the hills and cliffs had tracks with either a small platform or seat that allowed residents to safely move from the house to the shore and back up. I can only imagine what the view was like 80′ above the water.
We paddled for an hour and forty-five minutes. Five miles. Quite enjoyable and relaxing.

We packed up and headed back home to clean up. We had a cookout with friends that evening. A perfect day!
