Tour of eastern Wisconsin Day 3
We started the day by heading to Stone Creek Coffee on Downer Avenue in Milwaukee. It was walking distance from where we stayed and was right on the way to church. We’ve been to this shop numerous times. We had a great cup of coffee (as always) and breakfast. The Bacon Egg Cheese on Ciabatta hit the spot.
Early in the afternoon, we headed out for our first paddle of the trip. We drove about an hour and half to Sinissippi Lake near Hustiford, WI. We located one public kayak launch: Harvester Island Canoe and Kayak Launch.
We paddled for quite a while. The lake is 2800 acres so in two hours, we covered just a small part. It was a little windy so the breeze kept the temperature nice. The water was rather muddy but we’ve paddled on muddy rivers and such before. The lake might get a bad rap because it’s not the cleanest but there were lots of other recreational boats, jet skis and others on watercraft enjoying the lake.
After putting in and loading the boats, we thought we’d get a snack before heading back to Milwaukee. We found the Sinissippi Lake Pub on the east side of the lake. We had drinks and onion rings to hold us over until supper then headed back to Milwaukee to prepare for the next day’s trip to Door County.
