This was going to be a big day as we were driving 1.5 hours to West Bend and another hour to Storm Lake then returning “home”. We headed out on Friday July 22 and stopped in Webster City at a very nice coffee shop for breakfast – Morning Glory Coffee.
After breakfast, we drove to West Bend to visit the Grotto of the Redemption and spent a couple hours visiting the Grotto, the Christmas Chapel in Sts. Peter and Paul Church and finding treasures in the grotto gift shop.
The second leg of our trip was for a paddle on Storm Lake. It was breezy and challenging, but there were no large boats to cause bigger waves. We paddled about 5.5 miles then we decided on a snack before heading to dinner. We had a well-deserved bagel & cream cheese and coffee at Coffee Tree.
We drove a couple hours back “home” but stopped for another great meal at Pickles Pub – we love that place! We were happy with all that we had seen and done this day and planned for another big day on Saturday, 7/23. We planned our next visit to Mason City, Clear Lake, and Boone.
