Tour of Wisconsin Day 10
We always enjoy Bruegger’s Bagels when we travel to Iowa so for breakfast before another big day we stopped at one of their 3 Wisconsin locations, this one located in Oconomowoc. We had their bacon egg and cheese bagels on a cheese bagel. Pretty good start to the day. And right next door was Stone Creek Coffee-those guys are everywhere!
The Lake County Trail looked like a good place to ride so we parked in Roosevelt Park and headed south. The trail was all paved, well maintained and flat.
We ended up doing almost 14 miles. This trail connects to a number of other trails connecting Milwaukee to the East, Madison to the West and Beloit to the Southwest. Google maps figures 200+ miles.
We needed a break before heading out to paddle so we stopped at Roots Coffee Bar in Oconomowoc. The coffee tasted good. This was another re-purposed old building with lots of seating. Very nice, laid back shop.
After we rested for a bit it was off to Lac La Belle. It’s french for “lake the beautiful”. The weather was nice so we decided to lac la pagayer ( I think I used that right). We parked at the City Beach Park, paid our launch fee ($10.00) and set in next to the boat ramp. There was nice sandy area to make it easy to get in and out. We headed northwest along the shore and managed to get in five miles.
We loaded the boats up and figured we need some more coffee before our next scheduled ‘event’, so we found the Stone Creek Coffee Shop (again) and caffeinated up. It was time for pickleball.
Northeast Park was kind of tricky to find, the courts are so new Google Maps had us driving through a field. Cooler heads prevailed and we found our way to the club. This place was really nice! The Lake County Pickleball Club is a big deal and since we don’t know our rating, we thought the open time would be best.
We played one game ourselves then invited others to join. We both were playing up and from behind the whole time. But that’s good, it’s the only way to get better. Still no idea what our ‘rating’ is but I’m sure it’s not green. We played for about an hour and a half and then headed back home. We were kind of tired.
We cleaned up and headed to the Roof, the roof-top restaurant at the MIlwaukee Athletic Club for supper. We had a great meal with family and enjoyed the view.
