We started the day at The Pour, again. It was beautiful outside so we sat on the patio soaking up the sun.
Our primary activitiy today was kayaking. Powell Lake was about 45 minutes west and seemed like a good choice. Powell Lake is defined as a coastal dune lake. It’s fresh water but at times has ocean water channel in. The water had a brown tinge to it due to the minerals and it did tast a little salty but it was very clean and clear.
We paddled our rental boats for almost two hours. After four days, I finally got a little sunburned. It felt great!
For supper we thought we’d eat at an outdoors-type bar in a marina we’d been past numerous times. We got there just before 5:00 only to find it packed. On top of that, few were eating, most were having a drink listening to live music. Since both of us were hungry, we quickly changed our plans.
So instead of bar food and loud music, we chose quiet and class just across the street at The Grand Marlin. From the outside it looked kind of like an informal marina type diner. However inside the atmosphere and the food was anything but. I had a sensible wedge salad with she-crab soup, Mary had the Caesar salad and seafood gumbo. This was a very nice dining experience, plus, we were able to keep the eating-supper-on-the-water streak in place.
We did some packing of the van in preparation for our trip back tomorrow. It seemed like we had just got our bearings and routine down and it was time to go home.
