Our favorite local activities.
We woke up to a beautiful morning, We headed to our new favorite PCB coffee shop, The Pour. But first we had to drive by Parlor Donuts to get there. For days we had been unable pass the donut shop without stopping. But today we wanted breakfast at The Pour so even though I heard the siren song of the Sandy Beach layered donut, we kept going. Whew that was close.
We quickly grew fond of The Pour. The coffee tasted great, the food was good but most importantly, the outside seating reminded us both of our favorite coffee shop in Neptune Beach FL, Southern Grounds. We’ve grown rather fond of sipping coffee sitting under palm trees.
St. Andrews State Park was only a 10 minute bike ride from our house so after enjoying our breakfast, we pedaled to the park. It did cost $2.00 for each bike but it gave us a beautiful view of the bay and the gulf. The park was very busy but easy to ride around. They even had kayak rentals. We stopped at Gator Lake for a quick look. We didn’t see any gators but we’re sure they saw us.
It was Wednesday and that meant pickleball at Frank Brown Park. There were a few less people but they seemed more competitive and skilled. Mary and I agree, it’s good to play up if you want to get better. We were there for almost two hours until they closed for the day. We both thought a little nap before supper was a good idea.
We stepped it up for supper. We’d driven by Captain Anderson’s a few times. This is a really nice restaurant. And keeping with our supper theme, it was right on the water in a very active marina. Even at 5:00pm, we had a 15 minute wait. We had parmesan baked gulf oysters as an appetizer, Mary had a crab-stuffed grouper filet and I had Greek-style mahi mahi. Really good! We even had leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
