A three TWO hour tour
When planning this trip and scouting interesting activities, I found a number of boat cruises and excursion. I settled on Island Time Sailing. They promised dolphins as well. So two weeks before our trip I did my due diligence and checked the weather. Rain on and off was predicted for our week in Florida but Tuesday showed clear. So I booked a Tuesday cruise.
It should be noted that the only day of any serious precipitation during our visit in Florida was indeed Tuesday. It rained all day until late afternoon. Then by 5:30, our sail time, it stopped and started to clear.
The boat was pretty good sized, enough for 35 souls plus the crew of four. As we pushed off, the theme from Gilligan’s Island started playing on the speakers. They said it was a two hour cruise, not three hours. But the water was smooth and the sunset beautiful.
We cruised out to an inlet of the gulf where the water was a little rougher but we saw a lot of dolphin including baby calves.
On the way back to dock, we played trivia with team port versus team starboard. We won on the answer, “Who was the first explorer to navigate and map this area of the Florida and the Gulf?” A- Sir Francis Drake. Now you know.
The crew was very friendly and helpful. They had a small bar with mixed drinks and snacks. A very enjoyable time. The cruise is highly recommended.
